Bad Air Conditioner - Good Food

The past week has been a crazy one. Our air conditioner died and we had to replace the entire unit inside and out. So we went a whole 6 days in our house with no air. Luckily the temps outside were between 83 - 90. Still too hot for no air. We have avoided being in the house until around 6:45 and haven't been able to cook or do any laundry. Now that it has been fixed and my house is back to a comfortable 74 we stayed home, caught up on laundry, and cooked a much wanted homemade meal. One of our favorites: poppyseed chicken, caesar salad, and green beans. We topped it off with Pioneer Woman's chocolate cobbler. This was our first time to try the chocolate cobbler. It was really good but really rich. You could only eat a little bit.

Weekend Recap

Ashley's grandmother had heart surgery on Wednesday and she is still in the hospital on the ventilator. It's been a week and the Dr. said today that he is starting to see some slow improvement.

On Saturday night our air conditioner stopped working. So on Sunday we went to the Farmers Market in downtown to buy fruit and vegetables. The girls loved the farmers market. They already love fruit so they were real excited that they were offered a new piece every 45 seconds.

The weather has finally been warm enough the past few days to swim in the pool without heating it up. PaPaw built a slide for the kids to slide into the pool so it was broke in just a bit. The kids were a bit scared at first but then they loved it.

Grace has an ear infection and on Monday we found out that she busted her eardrum. She has pretty high tolerance for pain because she never once complained although she has been moody. She cries at the drop of a hat.

It's now Wednesday night. Ashley's grandmother is still in the hospital but the Dr. is starting to see improvement. The air conditioner still isn't working and the new one won't be installed until Tuesday. The fruit and vegetables have hardly been touched because it's too hot to eat in our house. And Grace is still fussy and cries at the drop of a hat. Her ear is still draining. Which I guess is normal. What a weekend?

Bunny Watching and Blueberries

This year we have an abundance of bunnies in our neighborhood. We have never noticed any since we have lived here. Yesterday Ava did some bunny watching outside the kitchen window for about an hour.

I came across an article in Southern Living last year about a type of blueberry plant that does well in our zone and in pots (they have to be brought in during Winter). So I ordered 2 along with two others because they have to pollinate each other. We have lots of little blueberries growing on the plants. Yum - won't they be yummy.

There were 3 in the bed and the little one said...

roll over, roll over. So they all rolled over and one fell out.

So we can't get a full night of sleep in our house unless we let Ava sleep with us. Then one of us ends up falling out (usually Ashley). Even then there still isn't any sleep for anyone except Ava. She sleeps really good when she is tucked inbetween us. If we put her in her bed we end up going back and forth from her bed to ours atleast 5 times in the night. I've heard of all the tricks and we have tried them but they DON'T work. She is my kid that needs to be able to sleep cuddled up underneath you.

Tonight we are trying something new. We moved a twin mattress into our room and told her that if she comes in she has to sleep on it and not with us. Hopefully, this will atleast allow us some extra sleep. Mommy and Daddy are really tired and we are starting to get fussy.
