Austin, Texas

Ashley had a guys weekend at the Lake which made for a good time for a girls trip. After Grace's game on Saturday morning we headed to Austin to see Nicole and Adam. I have known Nicole since she was born and she's alot like a little sister to me. The girls hadn't seen Nicole and Adam in a while but it didn't take long for them to warm-up. On Saturday we went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and to the Congress Avenue Bridge to see the bats. On Sunday morning we went to see Nicole and Adams abode and then went back downtown because Grace wanted to see the Capital building. We then said goodbye to Nicole and Adam and headed home but not without a stop at Baylor to show the girls the Bears at Baylor.
Adam taught Grace how to make paper airplanes and now everytime Grace is in the car with some paper airplanes beging to fly through the car. Thank you Adam.
We went to eat at the girls favorite restaurant the other night and our chef's name was Adam and Ava said, "Now I know 2 Adam's."
The girls are still talking about visiting Adam and Nicole but we are going to have to wait before we can go back and visit. I think Adam and Nicole are still recuping.

The BaBa Fairy

It was time for the BaBa Fairy to come to our house to take Ava's BaBa's to new babies. Ava decorated a bag and filled it full of all of her baba's and left it out for the BaBa Fairy after she went to bed. The BaBa Fairy left her some new WonderPets lego's.
Giving our baba's to the BaBa Fairy has been alot harder on mommy and daddy because we now are sharing our bed in the early morning hours because someone doesn't have something that helps to keep her asleep. We are also having to lay down with her to get her to fall asleep. And the sweet thing keeps asking us to tell the BaBa Fairy to bring back her baba because she wasn't done with it yet. That breaks this mommy's heart.

Hawks vs. Cougars

We had our first football game on Saturday. The girls did great and the half time show was even better. Starting next week 1st and 2nd grade will no longer be combined since they are splitting all of the teams.

We beat the Cougars 20 - 0. WAY TO GO HAWKS!

End of Summer

Labor Day weekend is always what we have called the last weekend of Summer. I put together a collage of some of my favorite pictures from this Summer. We have had alot of fun at the pool, on vacation at the beach, playing in the backyard, and just enjoying friends, family and each other. The girls are getting so big and there are so many times that I wish that I could make time go in slow motion.

Ava's Newest Hairstyle

This past week Ava has thrown a fit in the morning after we fix her hair. We finally understood what she was wanting. She wanted her ponytail to stick straight up off her head(See picture below). It reminds me of the little Cindy girl on the Grinch movie. It lasts long enough to get her out the door and lucky for mommy it's back to normal by the time I pick her up.

A Mom's Prayer on the First Day (&every day) of School

(Courtesy of Meredith's Blog)

Here we are again, Lord. Their backpacks are loaded and their faces are scrubbed and their lunch accounts are full.

And I know you'll walk with them, Lord. You always do. But a mom still has to ask.

Will You walk with them? Will You whisper to them what they need to hear, when I'm not there to whisper it?

Will You please, oh please, cover their school with the protection only You can give, and will You keep harm far away?

Will You make their minds strong and ready to learn? Will You help them understand that hard work honors the One who created them?

Will You guide their teachers, giving them patience and wisdom and creativity and more patience? Will You bless them for their efforts?

Will You love all those children there, the ones whose lunch accounts aren't full, the ones who feel alone? Will You teach my children to be kind and unselfish and to love those who are different from them?

Will You point them back toward home just as soon as you can?

Lord, I give them to You today and everyday, trusting them to Your care.

Amen.

1st Day of 1st Grade

Today Grace started back to school. She is now officially a 1st grader. She was so excited to go back and see all her friends. Mommy is excited that she got Mrs. Duty as her teacher. I have been given lots of GREAT reviews about Mrs. Duty.

Ava was upset that she didn't get to go to school today.
